On November 6, 2004, 17 Master Masons from Smooth Ashlar Grand Lodge and various lodges in and around the Jurisdiction of Georgia petitioned Prince Hall Grand Master Willie L. Williams for the purpose of expanding Prince Hall Masonry in Gwinnett County by forming a new lodge. With the assistance of DDGM Charles Truitt and ADDGM Matthew Lewis, a meeting was requested by the Grand Master on March 3, 2005 at 7pm at the Grand Lodge where the brothers where “healed” by Grand Master Williams into the Prince Hall family. On the morning of May 20, 2005, Grand Master Willie L. Williams issued a letter of dispensation granting the Brothers the right to form a lodge, conduct meetings, and receive petitions. Upon receipt of the dispensation, the petitioning Brothers officially became Truth & Union UD. The Grand Master appointed the three principal officers of the lodge: Worshipful Master: George W. R. Gray; Senior Warden: Louis Enrique Negron; Junior Warden: William Daniel. It was at that moment that we began to travel and journey into foreign lands. The inaugural meeting for Truth & Union Lodge (UD) was held on June 2, 2005 at the Magic Touch Barber Shop at 7:30PM. The meeting was ritualistically opened and at the close of business was closed in due and ancient form by Appointed WM George W. R. Gray with prayer being rendered by Brother Eddie Daniel. Shortly afterwards, Truth & Union (UD) began to hold their monthly meetings at the 1585 Woodington Circle Suite 106 in Lawrenceville, GA. During this time the lodge prepared itself for the upcoming 138th Grand Session in Perry, GA. On June 22, 2006, the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Georgia granted a charter for Truth & Union Lodge #594 at the College Park, Georgia Grand Session under Grand Master Ramsey Davis. The chartering ceremony was held on October 14, 2006, at the Magic Touch Barber Shop. Shortly afterwards, Appointed Worshipful Master George W. R. Gray relocated to Little Rock, Arkansas and the following December 2006, the lodge officers where elected and installed by DDGM Truitt and ADDGM Lewis, officers WM Louis Negron, SW William Daniel and JW James Reeves under the guidance of our honor member PM Corey Shackleford. In 2008, we continued to blaze the trails under the leadership of WM Louis E. Negron. We grow, we prosper, and we intellectually enriched our minds through our Masonic studies with the successful execution of our community endeavors. Our outreach in the community has expanded to Gwinnett and Hall County area fostering and building the core of brother’s involvement and within our activities by including our wives, children and loved ones. One of the most notable highlights of Community Service has been our partnership with Christ the King Baptist Church Thanksgiving feed the homeless program and our new partnership with the Gwinnett Children’s Shelter. It's the dedication of the members of Truth & Union Lodge #594, to be an example of what it is to display Brotherly Love, Truth, and Relief. Although young in age with our collective wisdom this has given us the insight as a veteran lodge. Moreover, this has allowed us to be successful and continue to be successful in all of our many endeavors.
